Lazy evil character drawing – Villains need a rest, too

In a world filled with fierce warriors, cunning masterminds, and heroic protagonists, there’s something oddly charming about exploring the lazier side of villainy. This evil hairy bug just loves to relax after all his evil deeds are already properly done. Listening to music, reading? No. Just daydreaming sometimes is enough. With contented smile on its face and its eyes closed, it lounges comfortably, hands wide open, enjoying the bliss of idleness while lovely busy ants are crawling around it. (I wish for that, too, recently, but a bit of idleness is nowhere to be seen around my place.)

Ink drawing of a hairy evil black character with sharp teeth lying on the ground with arms stretched and eyes closed, smiling and relaxing. Drawn by Boriana Giormova

This artwork of mine is a fun simple ink drawing in black, grey and red ink. It is available as art prints and other products, too. Check out some of them at my Redbubble store:

Thanks for looking! And next time you encounter a lazy evil bug, remember to offer it a comfy spot to chill and maybe a good book – it might just spare your picnic basket!

Also, my evil bugs are a whole family – the family of the Evil Flower Bug.

Psychedelic Eyes Mousepad – Threadless Review

Threadless surprised me with a coupon and I bought this trippy mousepad with my eyes mandala design for myself. It is not one of my popular designs, but I like it and wanted it near myself on something which I can use.

There is a bit doubling on the lines in one of the corners, barely visible, but I’m okay with it. Actually, I’m happy with the mousepad. Colors turned great – exactly as on my screen and the preview images. Nice rubber below and smooth fabric on top. Looks good next to my pink keyboard and with my purple mouse on it. Makes my desk nicely weird and me – a bit more happy every day.

Thanks Threadless!

Charming Six-Eyed Monster in Fancy Pants

I’ve created a character that’s sure to tickle your funny bone and warm your heart. Allow me to introduce you to this funny, smiling monster with not one, not two, but six charming big eyes! This lovable creature is the epitome of quirky charm.

What sets this lovable monster apart, aside from its extra set of peepers, is its impeccable sense of fashion. It sports the fanciest pants you’ll ever see, adorned with black and white stripes that add a touch of timeless style to its already unique personality. I’ve drawn it in one of my favorite color palettes – purple, white, and black.

So, the next time you’re in need of a good laugh or a burst of inspiration, remember this friendly monster and its fancy pants. Its infectious grin and mischievous twinkle in its eyes are enough to brighten even the gloomiest of days. Moreover, you can wear it as a T-Shirt or get it on a phone cases, stickers, as well as many more fun products from my Redbubble art store:

Thanks for taking the time to say how to say “Hi” to this quirky monster with me!

Macabre drawings of weird hands in red and black

Here’s a set of five macabre artworks drawn close to each other in time. They all feature deformed hands in some kind of distress and are drawn in red, black and grey shades. These drawings are closely connected with my pain experience with rheumatoid arthritis. The pain fuels the art and the art deafens the pain so drawing these things seems to be a win-win situation. And, by the way, I have always been deeply fascinated with hands and weird stuff, too.

Some mornings it is hard to move my fingers as if tight bandages are holding them firmly. Sometimes my palms and fingers just hurt a lot without any fathomable reason. They just do. And sometimes my palms itch a lot as if tiny monsters are scraping them with their little sharp teeth. And everything comes from inside, from my own immune system which at some point has taken a wrong turn and attacks its own host. But, as these sensations fuel some of my art, at least there is some kind of benefit coming out of them.

As for the medium. Some of the artworks are drawn in Procreate – the rose hand with thorns on its fingers, the hand stabbed from a spiky ball and the hand bitten by a monster with big sharp teeth. The skeleton hand with ghosts is drawn in Affinity Designer – mixed vector and raster techniques. and the fist with monster ring is an ink drawing shaded with greyscale COPIC Markers. Mixed media kingdom. 🙂

So, I’ve added these artworks to my Art Prints Store at Redbubble. If you are into dark, macabre art with a touch of creepy horror, you can buy some strange unnerving T-shirts, phone cases and other products with them.

Or, if you have a peculiar wish to support me in my art journey, you can always just buy me a coffee.

Decoupaged handmade air-dry clay pins – vampire mouth badge

Decoupage is such a versatile technique. I’ve been using it a lot recently for all kinds of crafts like wooden coasters and these air-dry clay pin badges. The technique is fun and it is a very easy way to transfer thoroughly your design on the clay, even if it is a very detailed one. For example check out this weird vampire lips and fangs pin with weird red-eyed evil monsters.

How I make the pins via decoupage

  1. I print low quality image with a size which I want the whole thing to be.
  2. I cut the image and I place it one the clay which I’ve already prepared with the thickness I want (the ready figurine is 0.4 mm).
  3. I cut the clay around the image but I make the cut piece larger because as you work with air-dry clay already you know it reduces its volume when it dries.
  4. I leave it to dry completely.
  5. I print the image on thin matte photo paper and cut it.
  6. When the clay is dry there is sanding to be done.
  7. I place the image to see if it fits and cut around its edges if it doesn’t.
  8. Then I coat it thoroughly with gesso and when it is dry it’s time for decoupage.
  9. Then it is time for coloring the base according to the design. In this case I’ve used a black acrylic marker.
  10. After the paint is dry I put one layer of decoupage glue on the clay and place the image carefully on it to avoid bubbles (you can also put glue on the back side of the image, too, but it is small in my case and there is no need).
  11. after it dries (about 20-30 min) I put a layer of glue on the image.
  12. after it dries – another layer. This time I put it on the edges, too.
  13. And then another.
  14. After the glue dries, I varnish it with three layers of glossy varnish.
  15. Then I varnish the edges.
  16. After I’m sure that the varnish on the front is completely dry, I place decoupage glue on the back side, too, just to have an uniform surface.
  17. And then I glue the metal pins.
  18. Lastly, I varnish the back, too. An then the pin is ready to decorate your bags, clothes and whatever else you want to place it on.

If you try this technique, please comment, I would love to discuss it. You can also connect with me on Mastodon.

You can buy this pin at my Etsy shop.

Red lips ink drawing

Today I present my ink drawing of lips in style resembling tattoo art, which features vibrant red lips intertwined with decorative swirls – bold, elegant, minimalist artwork.

Ink drawing of red lips with dots and decorative swirls in tattoo style. drawn by Boriana Giormova, Sofia, Bulgaria

The focal point of this illustration are the cool red lips. Red, a color symbolizing energy, passion, desire, and sensuality, and one of my favorite colors, too. Complementing the enchanting red lips are the energetic decorative swirls with dots that come out of them. They add a touch of mystique and fun weirdness which is one of my favorite sides of art.

The illustration is drawn quickly. It is not refined and I’ve intentionally left the edges rough as the ink has flown because I love the energy and expressiveness which this medium exudes.

I’ve added prints and products with this artwork to my Redbubble store. Check out some of them below:

Thanks for reading these short ramblings about a simple drawing which says enough for itself and in fact there is no need for any words.

Funny bat character librarian

I drew this funny bat librarian during an October some years ago. Imagined it as a granny, someone’s granny, fluttering all day over the books, taking care of the books, reading them. What a weird bat. And adorable nonetheless. This cutie wears orange glasses and a blue hat with flower and feathers, and has lovely orange wings. The whole scene is bathed in the warm, yellowish-orange tones of autumn.

Cute friendly bat character framed by a pair of eyeglasses and a hat with feathers that gives off major grandma vibes, adding a touch of nostalgia and warmth. This illustration has the warm orange and yellow colors of autumn. The bat is flying over a bunch of books, one of which is called Halloween For Noobs. Drawn by Boriana Giormova, Sofia, Bulgaria

Imagine stepping into a magical library straight out of a fairytale. The shelves are stacked with ancient books, their spines displaying fading titles that whisper stories of the past. The color scheme is dominated by cozy, inviting yellow and orange shades, creating an atmosphere that makes you want to curl up with a good book. And right in the middle of it all, there’s this bat character librarian – flapping its wings from atop a stack of books. Picture a wise and friendly face framed by a pair of trendy eyeglasses that seem to hold all the knowledge in the world. Topping it off is a hat that gives off major grandma vibes, adding a touch of nostalgia and warmth. You can’t help but smile when you see this charming little creature. This is what I imagined and as backgrounds just don’t come naturally to me, this is the essence of the scene – the character itself.

Among the books beneath our lovable librarian bat, one particular book catches your eye. Its cover displays the handwritten title words “Halloween for Noobs” – a reminder that Halloween is for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned Halloween expert or someone just dipping their toes into the spooky festivities.

I’ve also created cool products with this cute bat design at my Redbubble store. Check out some of them below:

Abstract Leaf Digital Ink Drawing

Hey there! I’m excited to share with you the story behind this abstract leaf artwork of mine. It’s a piece that holds a special place in my heart, as it embodies my fascination with nature’s mysteries and the power of artistic expression.

Abstract leaf digital artwork in sepia tones and black depicting a weird leaf with holes and veins stretching out of the leaf. Nostalgic, moody piece of art drawn by Boriana Giormova, Sofia, Bulgaria

When I started drawing it, I was actually loosely sketching, with no particular idea in mind (no thoughts in an empty brain, heh). The centerpiece of the piece is a leaf, but it’s not your typical leaf. In my drawing, the leaf’s veins stretch beyond its boundaries, creating a cool effect. There are big holes in the leaf, too, as there is something about withered autumn destructed leaves that enchants me so much. It’s could be a reminder that there’s more to nature than meets the eye.

I was in a strange mood when drawing it and I chose sepia tones for the color palette, very different from the bright colors that I usually use. The warm, brown hues add a touch of vintage charm and give a sense of nostalgia. It’s amazing how colors can evoke emotions and transport us to different eras.

I created this artwork using Affinity Designer, one of the best apps ever. Along with Procreate it has become one of my most important tools for artistic expression.

The background of the drawing features a speckled textured effect, adding an element of organic imperfection which complements the state of the leaf. It’s a reminder to embrace the beauty found in imperfection and appreciate the harmony between order and chaos.

I’ve added this design to my Redbubble store so you can enjoy it on a bunch of different product, check out some:

Thank you for taking the time to read my random ramblings about this abstract leaf artwork.

Witch Eyes Fun Horror Whimsigoth Pattern

The eye theme is prominent in my designs. Now I present this weirdly wicked witchy design of mine. It features muted green and vibrant orange eyes with reptile irises amidst occult symbols like pentagrams and stars, all set against a hauntingly dark purple background.

Dark pattern of witchy eyes with reptile irises in orange, green and purple over dark purple background with stars and pentagrams. Vector illustration created by Boriana Giormova, Sofia, Bulgaria
Десен от вещерски очи в оранжеви, зелени и лилави цветове тъмно лилав фон и окултни символи като пентаграм. Векторна илюстрация, създадена ор Боряна Гьорова, София, България

The Witch Eyes pattern draws inspiration from the realms of witchcraft, occult symbolism, and the macabre. The unusual colors colors give the eyes an otherworldly appearance, while the reptile irises add an extra layer of mystique. To intensify the enchanting aura, the Witch Eyes pattern incorporates occult symbols such as pentagrams and stars. These symbols have deep-rooted associations with witchcraft, magic, and mysticism. The pentagram, often seen as a protective symbol, adds a touch of power and mystique to the design, while stars evoke a sense of cosmic energy. By incorporating these elements, the pattern invites viewers to explore the darker side of their imagination.

The deep purple hue of the background creates an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. The dark purple also enhances the vibrancy of the green and orange eyes, making them stand out. This contrast between the eyes and the background adds depth and drama to the design because a bit of drama is always good, no?

It seems that a Whimsigoth style has emerged recently and my already created eye designs fit perfectly into it. What a surprise. Didn’t even imagine that this could be a separate style.

I’ve added this design to my Redbubble store which means you can buy it as a variety of products – from apparel to bags, stationery and home decor. Check out some of them below:

Thanks for taking the time for reading this post about this weird visual fusion of fun, horror, and enchantment.
