I had hammered these copper washers some time ago and had woven green jadeite stones into them with silver wire. These days I finally made them into earrings! Managed to get this absolutely unique patina on them:

If you look closely, there are so many colors on their surface – yellows, oranges and even purplish hues!
How I made the earrings
Hammered two copper washers a lot. Wove two 6 mm natural green jadeite round stones. Polished them insanely. Got this:

Then made silver ear wires, each with two of my favorite glass beads with one copper colored and one dark mauve colored bead. Assembled the pieces.

Lastly, time for patina. Wanted to oxidize the ear wires, too, so used boiled egg fumes. Eagerly checked a myriad of times. After some time, I was mesmerized to see these beautiful colors on the copper. Loved them.

Now I didn’t know how to continue.
I supposed I could not preserve the patina only by using Renaissance wax so I waited for a week pondering how to protect them. In this week, some of the blue shades disappeared by further oxidation in open air. Then I thought that I should not wait more.
So lastly, I varnished my creations with transparent metal varnish. And this is the final result:

Some beautiful shades of the patina disappeared but I already expected this. It’s a bit sad, though. I suppose with using only wax they could be preserved for a bit longer but they would eventually change, just some time later.
Anyway. I like them this way, too. This pair of earrings were already sold so if you want similar one, just write to me below and I’ll be happy to create them! Thanks for reading and until next time!
