I made these copper earrings with turquoise gemstones as another experiment with my favorite hammered teardrop elements. I love how they make jewelry dangle, shimmer and shine with every movement. And a faint gentle sound can be heard which is just enchanting. So, apart from poetry, here are the earrings themselves:

How I crafted them
I used 16 gauge recycled wire (1.3 mm) from electrical engineering – it is pure copper. Cut it, then hammered the pieces to achieve the teardrop shapes. Then cleaned the wire with warm citric acid bath.

After a lot of sanding and polishing, I hung them on a ring shaped from 18 gauge (1 mm) wire. Thought of adding a stone. Tried this setting with 4 mm green aventurine stones.

I didn’t like it so much so I tried the beautiful 6 mm turquoise gemstones of which I had only one pair. This time I liked how it looks and finished the earrings in this way. Made sterling silver wires because they are hypoallergenic and more comfortable for people like me. Here are the finished earrings:

Turquoise is the December birthstone. It symbolizes emotional balance and clear communication. It is often associated with calmness, openness, and a grounded sense of well-being. And has gorgeous blue-green shades. I think it pairs very well with copper’s color.
